Tammy Higgins was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia as the first child to Wayne and Heather Higgins.  She attended St. Mary’s University after giving birth to her son, Jacob, at the young age of 17.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Psychology and later specialized in Accounting as part of her career path with Canada Revenue Agency.  Tammy’s second child, Abigail, was born on May 3, 2004 and is now a proud single parent to two beautiful children.

Tammy has always had an interest in athletics.  She played the position of a pitcher on a girls’ baseball team until 1991 where she attended the provincial championship games on a number of occasions.  She was also part of her school’s track and field team in short distance competitions until 1992.  While attending St. Mary’s University Tammy joined the campus gym and the rest is history.  In 2008, Tammy began training for her first figure competition.  She hired trainer, Karl Nordin, in September 2008 and learned as much as she could about diet/training in 7 short months.  In the past three years, Tammy has competed five times and is now an inspiration and spokesperson to other women who wish to embark on the same goals and dreams.  In July 2011, Tammy will step on the National stage for her first time in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
